During the spring of 2020, COETAILers in Online 11 will culminate their learning journey with Course 5 with the option to also take School Technology Leadership (EDL 661) through the University of Kentucky. While the COETAIL courses focus on the ISTE Standards for Educators, the University of Kentucky courses focus on the ISTE Standards for Education Leaders. Scroll down for a peek at what combining these two certificates would look like!

This fall, we’re realigning our courses to the new ISTE Standards to equip today’s educator with the knowledge & skills to impact student learning.

“The ISTE Standards for Educators are your road map to helping students become empowered learners. These standards will deepen your practice, promote collaboration with peers, challenge you to rethink traditional approaches and prepare students to drive their own learning.” (source)

We’re also collaborating with the University of Kentucky to align our courses to include overlapping assignments, allowing you to grow as both an Educator and an Education LeaderScroll down for more information on our partnership with the University of Kentucky and a peek at the combined learning journey. Did you know that registration for Online 11 is open?! Don’t miss out on this transformational learning journey!

Bonus: Our partnership gives you the opportunity to stack graduate certificates on your way to your Master’s in Education (or even Ph.D.!) from a Research 1 university.

The next ISTE Standard in our series is Empowering Leader:

ISTE Standards for Educators // Empowering Leader

Leaders create a culture where teachers and learners are empowered to use technology in innovative ways to enrich teaching and learning. Education leaders:

3a.

Empower educators to exercise professional agency, build teacher leadership skills and pursue personalized professional learning.

3b.

Build the confidence and competency of educators to put the ISTE Standards for Students and Educators into practice.

3c.

Inspire a culture of innovation and collaboration that allows the time and space to explore and experiment with digital tools.

3d.

Support educators in using technology to advance learning that meets the diverse learning, cultural, and social-emotional needs of individual students.

3e.

Develop learning assessments that provide a personalized, actionable view of student progress in real time.

Eduro Learning embraces a community approach to learning. We believe that our community is essential to COETAIL’s identity so we are letting their voices speak for the program. Below, COETAILers share how they grew as Empowering Leaders during their journey.

Directly because of my work with COETAIL, I was empowered to be a leader at my school and beyond. I became a learning leader for a collaborative professional learning community on site and was nominated to become a representative for my broader regional learning community Near East South Asia (NESA) where I am currently the Collaborative Core lead in the Visual and Performing Art. My central role is to steer professional development for Arts educators in my region. This, I must say would have never happened without the work I directly did during my COETAIL course work.

Matt

Online 2

As a COETAIL graduate, I now have a voice at the table when it comes to innovating with technology. My school values my opinion and regularly includes me in conversations about professional growth related to technology.

Angela

Online 4, COETAIL 2

I hope I lead by example. I do what I preach. I enrolled in COETAIL 2.

Valdir

Online 5, COETAIL 2

I led multiple parent workshops and developed a scope and sequence for our primary school teachers & students. I spearheaded my school’s Technology Committee and coached colleagues individually to help them implement technology purposefully in the classroom.

Nicholas

Online 9

I was engaged in continuous professional learning by taking different courses and encouraging others to take some courses online or attend the school-based trainings.
